Amtrak Coupons & Promo Codes

Saving at Amtrak

Amtrak sells train travel across North America, including Northeast Corridor routes, long-distance trains, and connecting bus services. Grab a coupon code before you book to lock in savings on your fare, since these offers typically expire and availability shrinks as travel dates approach.

How to Redeem Your Amtrak Code

1. Visit amtrak.com and search for your route and travel dates.
2. Select your preferred train and proceed to the booking page.
3. Look for a field labeled Promo Code or Coupon Code and paste your code there.
4. Complete your payment and confirm your reservation with the discount applied.

• If the code will not apply: check the expiration date on CouponCare and verify your travel date falls within the offer window, since many Amtrak codes have blackout dates.
• If you see an error message: confirm the code is valid for your specific route and fare type, as some offers apply only to certain corridors or ticket classes.
• If the discount disappears at checkout: try clearing your browser cache and restarting your booking, or contact Amtrak support with your code and booking details.
• If the code worked but the fare increased: note that Amtrak fares change dynamically, so the final price may differ from your initial search.

More Ways to Save at Amtrak

• Book during off-peak travel windows. Amtrak fares are lower on weekdays and during shoulder seasons outside peak summer and holiday travel. Checking multiple dates when you search can reveal significant savings without needing a code.
• Use promo codes for additional discounts. CouponCare currently lists 19 coupon codes for Amtrak. Apply your code at checkout to stack savings on top of already-discounted fares.
• Sign up for Amtrak Guest Rewards. Amtrak's loyalty program lets you earn points on every ticket purchase and redeem them for future travel discounts. Members also receive early access to sales and exclusive member-only fares.
• Check for group and bulk discounts. If you are booking multiple tickets or traveling as a group, Amtrak offers special rates that may exceed coupon discounts. Contact Amtrak directly or check their group travel page for eligibility.
• Look for military and senior programs. Amtrak regularly offers discounts for military members, veterans, seniors, and students. Verify your eligibility on amtrak.com before applying a coupon code to ensure you get the best available rate.

Before You Check Out

Train travel is booked in advance, and seat availability and pricing change frequently. Review Amtrak's cancellation and modification policy on their site to understand your options if your plans change, since refund windows and change fees vary by ticket type and purchase timing. Most redemptions are digital, so have your confirmation email and ticket number ready before boarding. Check the station arrival time and boarding location for your specific route, as Amtrak serves over 500 communities and procedures differ by station.
